The Shoof Mastitis CMT Test Paddle is a simple yet essential tool used in conjunction with the California Milk Test (CMT) to identify sub-clinical mastitis in dairy cattle. Designed for on-farm use, this paddle helps detect infections early—before visible signs appear—allowing for timely intervention and improved udder health.
The test paddle is made from durable plastic and features four individual wells, each representing one quarter of the udder. When used alongside CMT reagent fluid, a small sample of milk from each teat is added to its respective well and gently mixed with the fluid. If mastitis-causing infection is present, the mixture will react by thickening or forming a gel, making it quick and easy to pinpoint the affected quarter.
