Description
Shoof Calf Leg Splint
The Shoof Calf Leg Splint is a practical and effective solution for treating calves born with contracted flexor tendons, helping restore mobility and support proper leg alignment from day one. Designed to gently correct the fetlock joint that knuckles under pressure, this splint allows the calf to move naturally while the tendon adjusts, promoting healthy limb development and reducing stress on the joints.
Available in colour-coded options — Front: Yellow and Hind: Green — the splints are easy to identify and apply correctly to the appropriate limb. The splint is positioned at the back of the leg, with the bottom edge resting at ground level, providing controlled support while allowing the calf to stand and walk with near-normal mobility immediately after application. This ensures comfort and encourages natural movement, helping calves develop strength and coordination safely.
The Shoof Calf Leg Splint is intended for short-term use. Typically, splints are removed after 4–5 days, once the calf’s tendon has relaxed sufficiently and proper limb function has been restored. Quick and simple to fit, the splints are a vital addition to any farmer or veterinarian’s toolkit for managing neonatal leg deformities effectively.
