New to the Ambic teat spray range is an improved version of its well proven, lever operated teat spray gun, which now comes with the added benefit of an extended lance with solid cone nozzle. This new gun has been designed both with ease of use and functionality in mind. It combines the well proven and popular ergonomics of the traditional Ambic lever style gun with the improved teat coverage made possible by Ambic’s solid cone nozzle technology.

Solid cone nozzle spray technology has been found to improve teat coverage because it avoids the hollow cone phenomenon encountered with traditional ‘adjustable’ spray nozzles.

The alternative hollow cone spray makes it much more difficult for the operator not to miss part of the teat during the teat spraying process, as the pictures below clearly illustrate.

Recent research carried out for Ambic by the Silsoe Spray Applications Unit has demonstrated that the new fixed geometry nozzle produces a larger mean droplet size as the following figure illustrates. A coarser spray was also found to giver a higher deposition of chemical than finer sprays. Click here for further details of the Silsoe research findings.

Effective mastitis prevention is dependent upon coating the entire surface surrounding the teat with a sanitising solution and this new gun makes that process much easier to achieve whilst also helping to avoid unnecessary wastage of chemical.
